Bradley Airport Explores Name Change
Bradley International Airport officials are considering changing the airport's name to attract more attention and offer more flights.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT - The Connecticut Airport Authority voted unanimously to launch a study that will evaluate changing Bradley International Airport's name. The Hartford Courant reported that the name change could boost the airport's profile and attract more flights.
Names that better reflect the region Bradley serves, including Hartford and New England, are being considered. Airport officials are seeking to expand flights to the West Coast and internationally and told the Courant that changing the name could better position Bradley as an alternative to Boston and New York airports.
Discussion of the name change comes during a period of flux and expansion for the airport. Bradley had a busy year in 2018, welcoming more than 6 million passengers and increasing traffic about 3.7 percent.

The airport has recently added airlines and destinations, including an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin and a Via Airlines to Pittsburgh.
Bradley hope to expand on that this year, seeking to pick up routes to the Caribbean, Phoenix, and Seattle. Airport officials will hold meetings with at least ten airlines in an effort to bring new routes and increase passenger traffic.
