Street To Close For Weekend In Windsor Locks

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Bridge Street will be closed to vehicles for an entire weekend as crews complete work connected to the new Windsor Locks train station platform, police said.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, and remain in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28.

Amtrak's Signal Group will use the closure to install and transition to a new signal system, according to the Windsor Locks Police Department.

Drivers will still be able to reach Montgomery Mills Apartments and the Ahlstrom facility from the east side of Bridge Street. Police officers will be stationed in the area to help direct traffic.

The department also warned motorists that construction along Main Street, or Route 159, will continue for the foreseeable future. Drivers should be prepared for delays, lane shifts, temporary detours and construction equipment throughout the corridor.

Because several projects are underway at the same time, traffic patterns and work zones may change as needed, police said. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible, leave extra time and watch for signs, workers and officers.
