East Windsor Police Officer Deploys Taser, Subdues Man with Large Knife

Police were responding to a report of a suicidal male, who ended up pulling the knife in a threatening manner.

An East Windsor police officer used a Taser to subdue a reportedly suicidal male who had taken a threatening stance with a large knife against police.

East Windsor police responded to 79 Prospect Hill Drive at 11:54 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 on a report of a suicidal male who was arguing with his wife and had just taken a large amount of prescription pills.

Police said when the first officer arrived on the scene, the man ran out the back door with a large knife. Officer William Ludemann pursued the suspect into the woods behind the house.

The suspect then took a threatening stance with the knife and stated he was not coming out of the woods and the police would have to shoot him.

Officer Ludemann deployed his Taser in accordance with Department Policy and was able to subdue the suspect and disarm him without incident.

Police said the male suspect was transported to the Hospital by East Windsor Ambulance and issued a misdemeanor summons to appear in court for the domestic disturbance.
