East Windsor Police Seize Counterfeit Bills, Make Arrests in Craigslist Transaction

Police arrested three men after one of the suspects attempted to use counterfeit money to make a purchase. Several items were seized.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — East Windsor Police arrested three men and seized $1,800 in counterfeit money, marijuana, and two U.S. passports during an interrupted Craigslist transaction.

Police responded to the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts, 1 Thompson Road, on March 28 for a reported problem with a Craigslist transaction.

The complainant told arriving officers that he had sold an Apple laptop to a man in Enfield about a week earlier who had given him $800 in counterfeit bills.

The man told police he was again selling an Apple laptop through Craigslist when the same man showed up to purchase it. He was concerned the male buyer, who was accompanied by two other people, was going to again give him counterfeit money during the transaction.

Officers and detectives conducted an investigation on-scene and probable cause was found to search the buyer's vehicle, according to police.

Police seized the following items as evidence from the vehicle: $1,800 in counterfeit money, two Apple laptops, 11 plastic baggies with marijuana and two U.S. passports that didn’t belong to anyone present.

The following were arrested after the investigation:

Dezmond Bonds, 24, of East Hartford, was charged with first-degree forgery and conspiracy.

Tamra Fields, 29, of East Hartford, was charged with first-degree forgery, conspiracy, possession of marijuana and illegal sale of marijuana.

Dorian Johnson, 22, of East Hartford, was charged with first-degree forgery, conspiracy and possession of marijuana.
