East Windsor Woman Stops DWI Driver, 'Likely Saved Lives'
Police recognized a local woman for her actions that they say likely saved lives.

EAST WINDSOR, CT - Police have awarded a local woman after she prevented a driver from getting back on the road who had a blood alcohol content that was four times the legal limit. Police say that action "likely saved lives."
At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Faith called police to report a drunk driver on Broad Brook Road near Herb Holden, who she was preventing from leaving.
Police said that the drunk driver had cut in front of Faith’s car and then crossed the double yellow line numerous times on Broad Brook Road, almost causing accidents.

The drunk driver turned off the road briefly to turn around when Faith pulled her car in front of the drunk driver’s car and prevented her from reentering the roadway, according to police.
Faith was able to get the driver to put her car in park and turn the vehicle off as police were responding.

Police said they applauded Faith's actions and that she has made East Windsor a safer community for all. Chief Ed DeMarco has presented her with a challenge coin for actions.
"A strong partnership with the community is essential to public safety. When private citizens embrace the role of public safety as a shared responsibility such as Faith has done, East Windsor is a safer community for us all. We applaud Faith for being part of the #TownWideTeam," police said.
