The Windsor Locks Youth Services Bureau has partnered with the Jorgensen Outreach for Youth program at UConn to form the Joy Program, which offers a variety of free tickets to shows for Windsor Locks youth and their families.
One such show is the Tekacs Quartet, which will take place on January 17, 2011.
The Takács Quartet exhibits a unique blend of drama, warmth and humor as its four distinct musical personalities bring fresh insights to the string quartet repertoire. Gramophone magazine says they "have the ability to make you believe that there's no other possible way the music should go, and the strength to overturn preconceptions that comes only with the greatest performers."
Program includes, Quartet Op. 71, No. 2, Haydn, Quartet No. 3, Bartók, Quartet in G Major, D887, Schubert.
