EAST WINDSOR, CT — A family-owned and operated boutique featuring over 10 artisans selling a variety of affordable local wares is about to open in the Pasco Commons shopping center on Route 5.

Giroux Woodworking Artisan is owned by East Windsor residents Erica and Mike Giroux. Their boutique will feature a craft classroom where both adults and children can participate in a wide array of art classes, from paint nights to cookie decorating to embroidery.

Having been on the local craft fair circuit for years, the Giroux family jumped at the opportunity to open a permanent location, where they could create a safe and comfortable space for the community to interact with local artisans, and make art of their own.

Giroux Woodworking classes are self-paced with an emphasis on fun and whimsy. Each student is encouraged to make each project their own and use their imagination to create something one of a kind.

The grand opening of the boutique is set for Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m., and opening day will feature giveaways and a free kids craft corner.

"Kids are welcome to come in and craft while parents shop, and can take home their project," Erica Giroux said. "Some of the artisans will be on hand to talk about their work, and Amy Cakes in Baked goods will sell treats."

The store will also be open this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Plans call for the boutique to be open Wednesdays through Saturdays, with adult classes during the evenings and children’s classes on Saturdays, as well as homeschooling get-togethers during weekdays.

More information on classes may be found at girouxwoodworking.com for more information on classes. Local artisans can also fill out a form on the website if they are interested in showcasing items in the store.
