A sports-related item that was to be auctioned off to benefit Special Olympics was stolen late last week, according to police.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Police are searching for help identifying a suspect who was captured on surveillance video stealing a sports memorabilia item that was to be auctioned to benefit Special Olympics.
On Monday, Windsor Locks police responded to Winner's Off Track Betting at 11 Schoephoester Road, where a complainant related that on June 29 around 8 a.m., the manager noticed an easel which had been holding a replica of New York Yankees World Series tickets and a photo of Yankee Stadium was empty.
The item, which had been donated to be auctioned off to benefit the Connecticut Special Olympics, is valued at approximately $300, police said.

The suspect is a white man, approximately 40-45 years old, weighing around 300 lbs., wearing a green shirt and plaid shorts. He was seen on camera entering the building around 10:25 p.m. on June 28, police said.
A surveillance video shows the suspect walked around the front lobby and then removed the collectible piece from the easel and fled the premises, leaving in a vehicle he had parked in the fire lane in front of the building. The collectible piece was secured to the easel by plastic zip ties that were cut by the suspect, police said.
