Moose Euthanized After Roaming Near I-91 In Windsor Locks
The moose was euthanized due to a threat to public safety, according to officials.
WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A moose that was seen roaming near I-91 in Windsor Locks on Monday morning has been euthanized, according to multiple reports, including WFSB 3.
WFSB reports the moose was seen within 20 feet of I-91 South and the Route 20 exit ramp.
After consulting with the state Department of Energy and Protection’s Wildlife Division, and in collaboration with CT State Police Troop H, DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police “euthanized the moose in the interest of public safety,” according to WFSB 3.

“Agency policy states that moose within 500 feet of an interstate highway are imminent threats to public safety and shall be euthanized,” DEEP officials said, via WFSB 3.
