Pit Bull Which Maimed Another Dog in Windsor Locks Being Sought
A rat terrier had to be put down due to injuries sustained in the attack.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Police and animal control officers are trying to locate a pit bull which attacked a rat terrier dog on Spring Street Thursday, causing severe injuries and necessitating a putdown of the terrier.
A resident told police a gray and white pit bull attacked his rat terrier dog on the deck of his home. He said he struck the pit bull with a plastic rod, but the pit bull would not drop his dog. The resident then struck the pit bull with a shovel, which caused the animal to drop the terrier, police said.
The injured terrier was taken to a veterinarian, where it had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries. Police were notified, and an officer spent several hours checking the surrounding areas of Reed Avenue and Glendale Circle, both on foot and by cruiser, but was unable to locate the pit bull, police said.
