Here are the specifics on the long-duration storm headed our way.
WFSB 3 TV reports snow will begin falling Tuesday evening and be steady by 7 p.m. and then it will change to freezing rain and then plain rain on Wednesday.
NBC Connecticut reports the state will receive another 1 to 4 inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain, which will make Wednesday’s morning commute very messy. It’s plain rain for most of Wednesday as the temperatures approach 40, but a return to ice and snow on Thursday morning.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons writes that we should enjoy today as it will be 35-40 degrees but the wind chill factor will make it feel much colder.
As for the next big storm, Simmons writes, the wet snow begins between 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, just in time for the ride home from work, and then it changes late Tuesday to freezing rain and ice through midnight.
On Wednesday, it’s rain throughout the day and then the rain changes back to wet snow on Thursday and the temperatures plummet and everything freezes again, Simmons cautions.
The only good news is that the rain won’t be heavy on Wednesday so that should minimize flooding concerns, he writes.
