Crash Shuts Down Windsor Locks Barber Shop

Skip's Early Bird Barber Shop said its doors are closed "until further notice" after a crash damaged the Main Street business.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A Windsor Locks barbershop is temporarily closed after a car crashed into the building Tuesday night, damaging the Main Street business and forcing upstairs apartments to be evacuated, according to police.

The crash was reported at 8:09 p.m. Tuesday at 246 Main St., the location of Skip’s Early Bird Barber Shop, according to the Windsor Locks Police Department.

Police said a vehicle was traveling north on Route 159 when the driver went off the road and crashed into the barbershop. The vehicle came to rest just inside the glass windows of the business.

No other injuries were reported, police said.

The Windsor Locks Fire Department and the town’s building department were contacted after the crash, and upstairs apartments were evacuated, according to police. The vehicle was towed and the property owner was notified.

The case remains open, police said.

Skip’s Early Bird Barber Shop said in a social media post that the shop will remain closed “until further notice” because of significant damage from the crash.

“Our doors may be temporarily closed, but our spirit isn’t,” the shop said.

The post, signed by Sara and Mollie, said staff members were thankful no one was seriously injured and grateful for support from customers, neighbors and the community.

“This shop has always been more than just a place for haircuts — it’s been a place for conversation, laughter, and connection,” the post said.
