• Delayed Windsor Locks Audit Flags 2 Material Weaknesses (patch.com) — Windsor Locks' long-delayed 2023-24 financial audit has flagged two material weaknesses tied to slow year-end closing and how restricted funds are reported in the General Fund. Auditors still expect to issue a clean opinion, reporting no fraud or illegal acts, but the internal-control issues will be documented in a separate government-auditing report that town officials must address. 
• CREC high school football preview 2026 (ncadvertiser.com) — CREC's high school football team, coming off a big turnaround season, will visit the Windsor Locks co-op on September 12 in a key Pequot Conference matchup. With a new head coach, a high-scoring offense led by quarterback Max Cosme, and several defensive standouts returning, CREC is eyeing a playoff push that will bring meaningful competition to Windsor Locks' home field.
• RTX Pratt & Whitney Wins $240.8M Navy Modification for F135 Engine Development (envzone.com) — A major $240.8 million Navy contract will send about 6% of its F135 engine development work to Windsor Locks, alongside larger shares in East Hartford and other cities. For local residents, that means continued high-tech defense work in town supporting F-35 engine upgrades and potentially sustaining jobs at the participating facility through at least March 2028.
