Windsor Locks Fire Truck Heavily Damaged When Struck By SUV On I-91
The collision took place shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday on the southbound side of Interstate 91, according to state police.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A fire truck from Windsor Locks working at the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 91 southbound early Wednesday morning was struck by a sport utility vehicle, causing heavy damage to the front end of the truck.
Around 4:08 a.m., the fire truck was blocking the right and right center lanes just prior to Exit 38 when it was struck by a 2019 Ford Escape, which was traveling in the right center lane of four, according to a state police report.
No firefighters were inside the truck at the time of the collision. The operator of the SUV, a 58-year-old woman from Suffield, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with minor injuries, state police said.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. The SUV operator was found to be at fault and was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions and failure to move over or slow down for an emergency vehicle, state police said.

"In accordance with state law, motorists traveling on Connecticut roadways are reminded to move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, police vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, CT DOT and other highway maintenance vehicles."
