Butterly as Stalin Sign Posted in Woodbury

Resident Sean Murphy is portraying the first selectman as the Russian dictator.

WOODBURY, CT — Another Woodbury resident apparently is not happy with First Selectman William Butterly.

Sean Murphy, who lives along Route 64, recently posted a sign in his yard depicting Butterly as the Russian Dictator Joseph Stalin, reports WFSB-TV. It reads, "You Will Speak When I Say So."

Murphy says he is protesting the town's lawsuit against fellow resident and friend Tom Arras, filed late last year for Arras' many signs protesting Butterly and town officials on taxes. The lawsuit was filed by the Woodbury Historic Commission, which says the sign violated its ordinances.
