‘China Patterns’ Performance at Westover April 17th

Middlebury, Connecticut – “China Patterns” – an introduction to Chinese culture through dance, music, language, and costumes – will be performed in Westover School’s Louise B. Dillingham Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 17th. The 90-minute performance, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3:45 pm in the School’s theater.

Performed in full, traditional Chinese costumes by professional dancers from Dance China NY, China Patterns introduces students to Chinese culture through language lessons, historical background, on-stage demonstrations, and audience interaction. The diversity of dance selections, authentic costumes and music, props, and narration illustrate and explain traits, customs, and patterns of Chinese life.

The performance is offered through the Arts-in-Education programs of the New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC), a nonprofit cultural and educational institution dedicated to deepening the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture in the global and local communities. NYCCC fulfills its mission by offering professional classes, workshops, and performances while nurturing creative and innovative new works through its artist residency program that reflects the rich cultural heritages and diverse communities of today.
