Fireworks Explosion Blow Off Part of CT Man's Arm: State Police
The accident occurred Saturday night.

Harwinton, CT - The left arm - below the elbow - of a 28-year-old Waterbury man was so heavily damaged by a fireworks explosion Saturday night in Harwinton that it had to be amputated, according to state police.
Derek Dooley suffered the serious injury at about 8:30 p.m., reports NBC Connecticut News.
He was struck by metal shrapnel below the elbow, writes the Waterbury Republican-American, during what was described as a private, unlicensed fireworks display on Catlin Road.

State troopers and members of the state police Fire and Explosive Investigations Unit are investigating the incident.
Whether Dooley will face charges is not known, reports WFSB-TV.
