Girl Scout Silver Award Announced!
Ella Palladino earns her Girl Scout Silver Award by addressing overcrowding at Brass City Rescue Alliance.
Middlebury Girl Scout Troop #64171 proudly announces that Ella Palladino has earned her Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award that a Girl Scout Cadette can earn and the second highest award in Girl Scouts. Ella is the daughter of Marnee and Dean Palladino.
After working her way through the AMAZE journey, Ella discovered that animal shelters are over crowded because potential pets don't get adopted. Most animal shelters have limited budgets and aren't able to provide basic environmental comforts to enhance the lives of the rescues in their care. Also, over crowded shelters add to the stress level of the dogs. Happy, social animals are much more likely to be adopted when they have the space they need to be themselves as their personalities are closer to what they would be like in a family home. Ella researched and found plans for a dog shelter that would help support positive outdoor rest time to help reduce shelter stress. She gathered the materials and built an outdoor dog house shelter. The structure is open on all four sides making is easier to maintain and is up off the ground to provide air flow - allowing a dog to enjoy the fresh air longer on any type of day. The shelter is already making a difference at Brass city Rescue Alliance in Middlebury CT.
Ella's Silver Award Project addressed overcrowding and social stress in local animal shelters. Earning the Silver award puts Ella among an exceptional group of girls who have used their knowledge and leadership skills to make a difference in the world.
