Hundreds Of Dead Trees In Middlebury Need To Be Removed

The Finance Board has approved funds to help with the tree removal.

MIDDLEBURY, CT — As many as 500 trees in Middlebury are dead and need to be removed in order to ensure they don't pose a hazard to the community, the Republican-American reports.

The Finance Board has approved $100,000 for the tree work but final approval is still needed. Dead ash trees have been found on 25 percent of the town's roads, officials told the Rep-Am. The Public Works Department would prefer to perform the work in-house as opposed to hiring a private contractor, which could be costly and also take several years to remove all of the dead ash trees.
