Manslaughter Arrest for New Jersey Woman in Connection with Fatal Middlebury Crash

MIDDLEBURY, CT — A 19-year-old Aberdenn, NJ, woman was arrested on a charge of second-degree Manslaughter on Oct. 14 in connection with a fatal 2015 crash on I-84 in Middlebury that killed 59-year-old Kevin Klein of Brookfield.
Erica Weinman was taken into custody in New Jersey as a Fugitive from Justice, according to Connecticut State Police. Troopers obtained a warrant for her arrest following the investigation of the Oct. 25, 2015, crash, which occurred eastbound between exits 17 and 16.
In addition to Manslaughter, Weinman was also charged with Operating Under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol, and Failure to Drive in the Established Lane.

The crash occurred when the vehicle Weinman was driving eastbound on I-84 drifted over the center median into the opposite lane and collided with a vehicle driven by Klein.
Connecticut State Police did not disclose the circumstances surrounding Weinman's arrest, only that she was taken into custody by New Jersey authorities and transported from Monmouth County Jail in Freehold to Troop A in Southbury where the crash was investigated.

Weinman was released after posting a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Oct. 26.
