Middlebury and Southbury Mend Fences After Tensions in Board of Education

Better communication between the towns is easing the strained relationship.

Tensions between members of the Middlebury and Southbury Region 15 Board of Education have decreased, the Republican-American reported.

Middlebury members, who represent a smaller population compared to Southbury, have reportedly often felt that their voice is not heard during the decision making. Members of both sides agreed that communication was key to maintaining a strong relationship this year.

Paul Babarik, a Middlebury member and chairman of the Board’s Finance Committee, told the paper the board was moving forward to provide for the children’s needs. Babarik said the committee is holding special meetings focusing on major cost drivers in the budget.

Babarik told the publication that with the special meetings, members from both towns were now working as a team.
