Middlebury Green's Trees Get Much Needed Love

Weise Choice Tree Services donated a day of work to care for the trees on the Green.

In honor of Arbor Day, Daniel Weise, owner of Weise Choice Tree Services, donated a day of service to prune trees on the Middlebury Green on Saturday, April 18.

Two arborists and three arborist assistants worked with a 70’ turf-friendly lift, two trucks and a wood chipper. The trees were pruned by climbers and a lift operator. To improve the health of the trees and the safety of the Green, dead, broken and structurally poor limbs were removed. All pruned limbs were removed from the Green.

Weise said he and his wife Brooke wanted to donate the day of service to improve the safety of the Green, improve the health of the trees and help educate the public on the importance of maintaining trees.

“The experience was wonderful,” he said. “We had the warmest day since last September with blue skies and a gentle breeze. The public seemed supportive and interested and the Congregational Church of Middlebury was very appreciative to have us complete the project.”
