Middlebury marathoner runs to honor her mom

Mary Tesch of Middlebury saw the medal for the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s CT Triple challenge over the winter and told her mom she wanted to run the three races in her honor. Just a short time later, Mary’s mother passed away unexpectedly in April at Hartford Hospital.

Mary considered quitting the challenge after a tough first 10K race shortly after her mom passed, but thought about how her mom was always so proud of her accomplishments. She reconsidered and finished the second race, a half marathon in May and will run the Eversource Hartford Marathon on October 12, completing the CT Triple challenge. She has been named to the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s 2019 Aiello Inspiration Team, a group of runners with incredible reasons for participating in the annual Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon this fall.
