Middlebury Woman Receives Settlement for Candlewood Lake Watercraft Crash: Report

The accident occurred in June 2014.

MIDDLEBURY, CT — A watercraft accident on Candlewood Lake in 2014 resulted in a fractured arm and a $255,600 settlement for a Middlebury woman, reports the Connecticut Law Tribune.

Monike Hayden was a passenger on the watercraft when she broke her arm, which required surgery to repair and hardware that will likely be in her arm for the rest of her life.

The settlement was reached in binding arbitration and paid by Allstate Insurance without Hayden filing a lawsuit, according to the publication. Nearly $75,000 of the settlement was for medical expenses and lost wages, and more than $182,000 was for non-economic damages.
