Family Festival and Pet Adoption event to honor life of first grader and her love of animals.

Portraits by ShawnaLee has been invited to participate in this Free family festival to celebrate Catherine Violet Hubbard's life with pet adoption, family friendly activities, and live entertainment.

Newtown, CT - In a touching tribute to the life and legacy of a first-grader lost in the Sandy Hook tragedy, the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation will host its second annual Catherine’s Butterfly Party, on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 12-5pm at Fairfield Hills Campus in Newtown. Catherine’s Butterfly Party is a free family festival and pet adoption event that draws thousands of people every year. Featuring fun activities for adults and kids alike, this open event includes face painting, games, crafts, vendors, food trucks and live entertainment.

Pet Portrait Artist, ShawnaLee Kwashnak, will be there to offer her artistic talents, special offers, and free pages to color in honor of the event.

Nature inspired educational exhibits include Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory, Animal Embassy, dog agility and training demonstrations, Audubon at Bent of the River, CT State Trooper K-9 demonstration, and Birds of Prey program by Horizon Wings.

In addition, twelve animal rescue agencies including ASPCA, North Shore Animal League America, DAWS, Gimme Shelter, BeFreegle, Super Paws Rescue, Adopt-A-Dog, Animals R Family, Second Chance, ARF Mobile, Baybrook Rescue and Rowanwood Farms will be on hand with their adoptable animals. Catherine Violet Hubbard had a natural ability to connect with and care for animals. She loved being in their presence and would whisper to them, “Tell all your friends I am kind.” Every year, Catherine asked for a birthday party that would bring all of her favorite animals together - Catherine’s Butterfly Party is that wish fulfilled.

To carry on one little girl’s legacy of providing a safe haven for animals, the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation is raising funds to build the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary. The Sanctuary will be located in Newtown, Connecticut, and will provide rescue and adoptive services for dogs, cats, rabbits and other companion animals, farm animal refuge, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
