MIDDLEBURY, CT — With a goal of filling an entire school bus with non-perishable food items that will be delivered to the Middlebury Food Bank and distributed to those in need in the local community the Middlebury Elementary School PTO has teamed up with First Student bus company and the local Cub Scouts (Troop 11) to hold a "stuff the bus" event on November 7, from 9 a.m to noon, at Middlebury Elementary School.

“We reached out to First Student to see if they’d be interested in helping us and, without hesitation, they said they’d be happy to provide a school bus for the food drive,” said Michele Dunn, Middlebury Elementary School PTO President. “The elementary school staff and our local Cub Scouts troop will also be lending a hand. We’re all looking forward to helping our local food bank and we’re inviting the entire community to come take part in this drive-through event.”

Items needed for the “Stuff the Bus—Give Thanks Food Drive” include pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, canned tuna, soups (chicken and vegetable), canned vegetables, rice boxes or bags, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, instant Jello, instant pudding, cake or cookie mix and frosting. Cash or gift cards will also be accepted.
