Two Named to Westover School Board of Trustees

Westover School had a huge impact on his daughter's life and the lives of many students, said Stephen J. Clark.

 

Blair Danzoll Stambaugh and Stephen J. Clark were named to ’s Board of Trustees.

An educator with forty-five years’ experience in independent schools, Stambaugh served as head of school at The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pa., from 1980 until her retirement in 2006.

Previously, she served as Headmistress of The Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Md., from 1973 to 1980. Earlier in her career in education, she was a teacher
of Latin and Greek at Abbot Academy in Andover, Mass., as well as a teacher of Latin, English, and History at Pine Cobble School in Williamstown, Mass., and as an instructor of Latin at Williams College in Williamstown.

Active in a number of educational organizations throughout her career, Stambaugh is a past vice president, member of the Executive Committee and
a board member of the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools; a past
president and treasurer of both the Country Day School Headmasters’
Association and The Headmasters’ Association; a past president of the
National Association of Principals of Schools for Girls; a past president
and Secretary of the Headmistresses of the East; and a past member of the
Boards of Directors of the National Association of Independent Schools and
the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools.

Stambaugh currently serves on the Moses Brown School’s Board of Overseers, is a past member of the Boards of Trustees of Wyndcroft School, St. Catherine’s
School, Valley Forge Military Academy, and Dana Hall School; is a current
member of the Board of Directors of West Hill School, and is a past
Corporator of Dana Hall School.

Stambaugh has been a member of the National Board of the YWCA of the United States of America and a member of the Board of the Church Training and Deaconess House for the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania.

She is currently a member of the vestry of the Church of The Redeemer in
Bryn Mawr, where she is also co-president of The Montrose Square
Condominium Association.

A resident of Bryn Mawr, Stambaugh holds a B.A. in Latin and Greek
from Wheaton College and pursued graduate studies in the Classics at Smith
College.

As co-president of Westover School’s Parents Council this year with his
wife, Peni, Clark is serving as the council’s representative on the
School’s Board of Trustees. They are the parents of Hannah Clark, a member
of the Class of 2012.

"Westover has had a huge impact in our lives," Clark said. "I want to
contribute as much as I can to Westover because the school has fostered
such a love of learning not only in my daughter, but for every girl
there."

Hannah Clark is the 2011 recipient of the Doolittle-Markham Scholarship
Award, which is given to one of the four top-ranking seniors; she is also
a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist.

A service technician with F.F. Hitchcock, Clark attended the New England
Technical Institute. He serves on the White Memorial Educational
Committee. Clark and his wife reside in Northfield. He enjoys
carpentry, kayaking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
