Wellspring Offers a Parenting Group for a Defiant Child

Waterbury, CT – Wellspring Counseling Services is offering an eight-week group for parents and caregivers who struggle with the difficult behaviors of the children in their care. The series begins Tuesday, October 1, 2019 and will be held Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m at Thomaston Savings Bank, 985 Watertown Ave, Waterbury, Connecticut.

Therapists Kathy Dowling, LMFT and Frances Smith will lead this group in a family-centered approach to parenting children with challenging behaviors. Facilitated discussion and workbooks, along with group support, will guide participants in learning to respond rather than react to their children.

This group is possible through a Connecticut Community Foundation grant from their Healthy Communities Fund. Participation is limited to residents of: Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Cheshire, Goshen, Litchfield, Middlebury, Morris, Naugatuck, New Milford, Oxford, Prospect, Roxbury, Southbury, Thomaston, Warren Washington, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott and Woodbury. Special thanks to the Healthy Communities Fund of the Connecticut Community Foundation for supporting this program for the second consecutive year.
