Woodbury Child Abuse Case: Defendant Reportedly Enters Plea

Benjamin Marshall was accused of assaulting his 11-week-old daughter in 2014, fracturing the infant's skull.

WOODBURY, CT — Benjamin Marshall, 23, accused of assaulting his 11-week-old daughter in 2014, pleaded guilty in court Thursday to risk of injury to a child, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.

The child, who subsequently was adopted by another family member, suffered a fractured skull, for which Marshall claimed happened when she fell off a table.

Marshall pleaded guilty under the Alford Doctrine, in which he believes he may have been convicted at trial but did not agree with the accusations, according to the publication. He faces a maximum of two-and-a-half years in prison when sentenced early next year.
