Woodbury Restaurant Settles With Estate Of Edward Bertulis, 87

Two people were killed in the 2017 crash including the wife of legendary ESPN anchor Chris Berman.

WOODBURY, CT — The Market Place Kitchen and Bar in Woodbury and the family of Edward Bertulis have reached a confidential settlement with one another after Bertulis' estate filed suit against the restaurant alleging that it over-served alcohol to Katherine Berman prior to the 2017 double-fatal accident that left Bertulis, 87, and Berman dead, Fox 61 reports.

Berman had a "blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit" when her car crashed into another vehicle leaving both her and Bertulis dead, the Hartford Courant previously reported. The Hartford Courant adds that at the time of the 2017 crash that Katherine Berman, whose husband is ESPN legendary broadcaster Chris Berman, was speeding and didn't hit her brakes before she crashed into Bertulis' vehicle.

The double fatal crash occurred on Route 63 in May 2017. The lawsuit filed against the restaurant contended that Katherine Berman was served alcoholic beverages while she was intoxicated in violation of state regulations, the lawsuit alleges. The lawsuit was settled this week.
