• Middletown's Green Giant Elementary School set to open fall 2029 (delawarepublic.org) — A new Green Giant Elementary School in Middletown is moving ahead, with council reviewing design plans and construction expected to start in April 2027 and open by fall 2029. Funded in part by a 2024 referendum that raised local property taxes, the project is closely coordinated between the town, Appoquinimink School District, and state agencies to meet future enrollment needs. 
• NFPA, Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition Announce Bringing Home Safety Advocacy Award Recipients (firehouse.com) — Middletown Mayor Ken Branner has been honored nationally for championing home fire sprinklers, including backing the town’s new standards for all residential construction. The award highlights his long service as both mayor and Volunteer Hose Company chief, and comes with funding to support additional local fire-safety education and advocacy benefiting Middletown residents.
