• Emergency Sirens Test (delaware.gov) — Middletown residents are within the 10‑mile emergency zone for the Salem/Hope Creek nuclear plants, so you’ll hear a three‑ to five‑minute siren test on Tuesday, October 6 at 10:45 a.m. Afterward, eligible residents in the zone can pick up free potassium iodide tablets on October 15 in Delaware City, which help protect the thyroid during a radiological emergency.
   

• The National Honey Board has named the best beers (beerinfo.com) — Middletown’s own Volunteer Brewing Company earned national recognition when its Orange Blossom Honey Wheat won the wheat beer category at the 2026 National Honey Board Honey Beer Competition. Judges sampled more than 150 honey-based beers nationwide, putting this local brewery’s creation alongside top winners from Chicago, New York, and beyond, and giving Middletown craft beer fans something to celebrate.
