The Vero at Newark, A Juniper Community Hosts 3rd Annual Crab Feast Benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association

Residents, families, and local partners united for a festive day of food and fundraising, raising $3,500 for Alzheimer's support.

(September 2, 2025) Newark, DE – The Vero at Newark, A Juniper Community was filled with laughter, community spirit, and plenty of crab-cracking fun during its 3rd Annual Crab Feast to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, held on Thursday, August 21. The event brought together residents, families, associates, and community partners for a day of delicious food and meaningful fundraising.

This year’s Crab Feast raised an impressive $3,500 and counting, to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission of advancing research and providing care and support for those affected by the disease.

Guests enjoyed fresh, flavorful crabs provided by BNB Seafood, while mingling with neighbors and supporting a cause close to so many hearts. The event would not have been possible without the generosity of its sponsors: Griswold Home Care for New Castle County, Chesapeake Regional Rx, and Nurturing Angels Home Care. A special thank-you also goes to Louviers Federal Credit Union, whose $500 donation provided an extra boost to the fundraiser.

In addition to food and festivities, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Alzheimer’s resources thanks to Kim Roman, Erica Holmes, and Ashley Mittelmeier from the Alzheimer’s Association, who hosted an educational table during the event.

“We are so grateful for the incredible support from our residents, families, sponsors, and associates,” said Nyla Thompson, Connections Director at Juniper Village at Newark. “Events like this not only bring our community together in joy but also make a real difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
