Working groups will meet this fall to tackle student reassignments, staffing, governance, and transportation barriers, with public input shaping recommendations headed to state leaders in early 2027.
2. Archbishop of America: The greatest gifts of Hellenism became great precisely because they were shared (orthodoxtimes.com) — Odyssey Charter School in Wilmington just opened a new K-5 Greek language immersion building, marking a major expansion of its dual-language program for local students. Archbishop Elpidophoros of America led a blessing of the facility as families, educators, and community members celebrated with Greek dance and a focus on sharing Hellenic culture with children from all backgrounds.
3. Salesianum School rolls to win in soccer home opener vs. Sussex Academy: Photo gallery (thedialog.org) — Salesianum opened its boys soccer home schedule in Wilmington with a dominant 9-0 win over Sussex Academy at Abessinio Stadium, piling up five goals before halftime. The Sals, now 2-0 with a 16-0 goal differential, host Kingsway (N.J.) on Sept. 15, while Sussex Academy heads to Appoquinimink the same evening.
4. FBI, Army CID Investigate Delaware Reservist Accused of Soliciting Minors (firststateupdate.com) — A Wilmington man serving as a Delaware Army Reservist has been charged in federal court with multiple child-exploitation offenses after investigators say he solicited explicit images from minors online and traveled to Maryland seeking contact with a 9-year-old girl. Authorities stress that the charges are allegations and any prison sentence would be set by a judge if he's convicted.
