MEDIA ALERT: Delaware Church Calls Community to Fast, Pray & Expect Breakthrough Sunday

NEW CASTLE, DE — September 2, 2026 — Victory Christian Fellowship is calling its congregation and the surrounding community to a weekend of prayer, fasting and spiritual preparation leading into a special Sunday service focused on breakthrough, freedom, deliverance and a powerful move of God.

Founding Pastor Gary Whetstone is inviting people to join him in fasting and praying Thursday, Friday and Saturday as they prepare for Sunday’s gathering.

The church is encouraging people to invite family and friends and come with expectations for what God can do.

The call comes as Victory continues its mission of serving both the spiritual and practical needs of the community. Two weeks ago on Aug. 23, following a fire the day before that started near the kitchen and damaged the choir room, the church gathered for worship outside. Last weekend, the four-decade-old food bank ministry, Heart for Humanity, served the community, while the young adult ministry, GoChurch, took evangelism into the surrounding neighborhood. Services are now indoors.

Pastors, members and volunteers all lent a hand in helping the church during a time of uncertainty. Founding Pastor Gary Whetstone said the fire didn’t come to destroy us. It came with a revelation.

“How do we work against the enemy?” he asked. “We fast, we pray, and then we call the fire of God down. Sunday when we come together … we are going to see the fire of God manifest in our lives.”
