The fall season is a special time of year in Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley. For some, a favorite part is seeing the vibrant shades of orange and red fill the trees and gardens from head to toe. For others, it’s the smell of apples and cinnamon that fills the air. But for most, it’s the pumpkin patches and classic fall adventures! From hayrides and train rides to pumpkins galore, the Greater Wilmington area is the perfect stop for all the fall fun.

Fall Fun on the Farm...
From U-pick pumpkins to corn mazes and spookley trails, the Ramsey family knows how to show off for the fall season. Stewart Ramsey and his son, Carl Ramsey, are the fifth and sixth generation farmers to operate Ramsey's Farm. The pumpkin patch has been in operation since 1995 and is located between Brandywine Creek and the Pennsylvania State Line North of downtown Wilmington. Coverdale Farm Preserve is comprised of 200 acres of Nature Preserve. Nestled alongside the Preserve is a 177-acre working farm that showcases regenerative agriculture methods. Throughout the fall season, there are harvest moon festivals, Halloween inspired events, hayrides and of course pumpkin decorating.

The Great Pumpkin Carve is an annual Chadds Ford tradition. This three-day event highlights more than 70 giant pumpkins carved into "spooktacular" creations. Carvers work through the early evening on Thursday and then illuminate their masterpieces by candlelight. Throughout the event there will be a 'kid friendly' Haunted Trail, live music and amazing food, local craft beer and wine.
Of course, we can't skip on the hayride adventures to come this fall!
