Man charged after threatening pedestrians with a gun
Newark Police have arrested a 20-year-old University of Delaware student after an investigation about two incidents involving a man threatening individuals with a firearm on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 3.
Just before 8 p.m., Oct. 3, Newark Police received a report from two victims that they had been walking on Academy Street, south of East Delaware Avenue, when they were followed by a vehicle. It pulled up next to them, and the driver pointed a firearm at the victims, threatening to shoot them. They fled the area and called Newark Police.

Shortly after that report, the University of Delaware Police Department was contacted by a male victim who said he was walking through the parking lot of Drake Hall on Academy Street when he was shot with what he believed to be a BB gun. He described the vehicle and suspect, both of which matched the details of the prior incident. The victim suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene by EMS and did not require further medical treatment.
