Wilmington’s 'Beautiful City' Initiative Continues With Special Citywide Tree Limb Collection Event

The Department of Public Works’ Urban Forestry Division again teams with Parks and Recreation to address oversized limbs

Wilmington’s Beautiful City Campaign—a four-year effort to keep City streets and neighborhoods cleaner and more beautiful—continues this Saturday, May 30 with a citywide tree limb collection event. The announcement was made today by Mayor Mike Purzycki, Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams, Director of Parks and Recreation Kevin Kelley, and the City’s Arborist Herb White.

“This campaign is about our pride in Wilmington’s beauty and our collective efforts to keep our City clean,” said Mayor Purzycki. “Thousands of residents and businesses over the past few years have participated in various cleaning events and the City looks better because of it. We are pleased to present this weekend’s collection opportunity and encourage residents to place yard waste and tree limbs at the curb.”

You MUST contact Wilmington’s Public Works Call Center at (302) 576-3878 to register for Saturday’s tree limb collection event.

On Saturday, the Departments of Public Works and Parks and Recreation will team up to collect tree limbs that are too large to be collected during the City’s regular yard waste disposal on Wednesdays. Residents should place larger limbs and tree debris at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Saturday for collection by the City. Tree sections eligible for collection are those that are not longer than 8 feet or larger than 4 inches in diameter. Tree limbs will NOT be collected from rear alleyways.
