1 Dead In Georgetown Double Shooting

GEORGETOWN, DC — A Maryland man died early Saturday morning in a double shooting in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department says the shooting occurred in the 3500 block of Water Street, Northwest, near the Key Bridge at about 2:51 a.m.

Police say Kennedy Javier Amaya-Olivares, 19, of Severn, was pronounced at the scene, and his body was taken to the office of the chief medical examiner.

Authorities have not released the name of the second man, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS took the injured man to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

No information has been released about a suspect or possible motive for the shootings. NBC Washington reports that police are looking for a gray Nissan with Maryland license 7BB-8558 in connection with the attack.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
