2 Men Accused of Attacking Postal Worker in Georgetown, Postal Service Offers $50,000 Reward

Authorities say they punched the postal worker in the face repeatedly after the worker interrupted a burglary of a postal vehicle.

GEORGETOWN, DC — The U.S. Postal Service is offering a reward of $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two men who they say attacked a letter carrier in Georgetown earlier this month.

Police say that at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 in the 1500 block of 32nd Street NW, two men who had already broken into one postal delivery vehicle were interrupted by the letter carrier as they broke into the second, according to a report from the U.S. Postal Service.

"In the ensuing confrontation, both suspects assaulted the letter carrier by punching him in the face," the report states.

Both suspects were described as black males in their mid-teens to early 20s with slender builds. Suspect No. 1 is 5'11" to 6' tall wearing a black jacket, red hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Suspect No. 2 is 5'4" to 5'5" tall, wearing a black jacket with a black hood sweatshirt and black pants.
