1. 5th Anniversary Exhibits at the Gallery Underground, Aug. 2

Celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the Gallery Underground in Crystal City with a free reception for this special exhibition featuring an all-members show and works by award-winning painter, Wen LePore. Free. Opening Reception Friday, August 4th, 5-8pm.

2. Free Summer Concerts at the New DC Wharf, Aug. 3

Bring your friends and head to District Wharf every Thursday evening this summer to listen to live music at Gangplank Marina Park. Each week will be a new cover band. This week, enjoy music by The Reflex, playing all of your favorite hits from the 80s. The Reflex serves as a perfect reminder of that great music of a decadent decade. The concert is free and ice-cold beer will be available on-site at the bar! Meet us there! 6:30-8:30 p.m

3. White Ford Bronco: DC's All 90s Band, Aug. 11

Doors open at 7 p.m. at U Street Music Hall at 1115 U St. NW. Tickets are $22.

4. Valley Queen, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, The War & Treaty, Aug. 18

Valley Queen front woman Natalie Carol leads a band reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac and My Morning Jacket with vocals evocative of Florence Welch. Neil Wogensen (Bass & Vocals), Shawn Morones (Lead Guitar & Vocals) and Gerry Doot (drums), enrich the songs with energy, excitement and emotion.

5. Family Thursday at the Capitol Visitor Center, Aug. 24

Learn how women served the United States during World War II and create a journal honoring their courage and sacrifice. 30 minutes. For visitors of all ages.
