Alex and Ani Retail Store Coming to M Street
The online jewelry company has more than 20 retail locations and will add Georgetown to that list.
Alex and Ani, a line of eco-friendly jewelry designed to promote "positive energy," plans to open a retail location on M Street by the second week of December.
The shop will be occupy a little more than 1,000 square feet on the ground level of the building at 3068-3070 M St. NW, below M3 Massage.
The Georgetown store has been in the works for about three months, according to Alexandra Zaso, a spokeswoman for the company.

"Georgetown is a great place for Alex and Ani to spread our message of positive energy, which speaks to tight knit communities across America," said Zaso in an email to Patch.
Alex and Ani sells “positive energy products that adorn the body, enlighten the mind and empower the spirit,” according to the company website.

The eco-friendly jewelry is created from materials made entirely in the United States. The company secures scrap metal from local mills to create bracelets, rings, charms and more.
Designer Carolyn Rafaelian launched her company, which is named after her first two daughters, in 2004. It began online, but now has more than 20 retail locations throughout the country.
According to the company Web site, Rafaelian's design philosophy designs is that "one can infuse thought into material to recognize one’s power and unique essence in their everyday wear."
The Georgetown store will reflect the efforts of Alex and Ani stores across the country, which "strive to tighten the bond and connection to our local communities," according to Zaso.
