Alexandria Man Killed In 'Targeted' Shooting On M Street In Georgetown: Police
D.C. police are investigating the fatal shooting of an Alexandria man Monday evening on a busy part of M Street in Georgetown.
WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. police are investigating the fatal shooting of an Alexandria man during rush hour on Monday in Georgetown.
The shooting occurred in the 3200 block of M Street NW, near the popular Georgetown Cupcake shop. D.C. police identified the victim as Tarek Boothe, 27.
Around 6:15 p.m. on Monday, police officers with the Second District in D.C. went to M Street in Georgetown in response to the report of a stabbing and a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers found an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and took the victim to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
"We believe that our suspect, in this case, may have suffered some type of injury, so we're asking for the public to assist us in reviewing any video or footage of cameras they might have," D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee III said during a news conference at the scene.

"This appears to be a targeted shooting," Contee said.
The police chief said Boothe was sitting on a retaining wall on M Street when a "younger Black male" wearing a black puffy coat, skull cap and light-colored jeans shot him.
"There was some type of altercation that occurred," he said.
After the shooting, the suspect is believed to have walked north on 33rd Street from M Street with another person.
Contee said there were several witnesses at the time of the shooting who the MPD planned to interview.
The MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
