Georgetown community groups and Georgetown University departments hope to collect more than 3,500 new or gently used books appropriate for children up to age 15 in any language for the 2013 Bring on the Books Drive.
Last year the program gathered 3,300 books—1,000 more than the goal, according to the Georgetown University website.
“Georgetown’s Bring on the Books Drive unites institutions, organizations and individuals in the belief that all children deserve the opportunity to have a book to read,” Bring on the Books Drive and Georgetown University student Sohayle Sizar said in an article on the GU website. “But this belief begins within the community and starts with bringing our neighbors together.”

A wide range of organizations are teaming up to support this year's drive, including the Burleith Citizens Association, Hyde-Addison Elementary, the White House Office of Correspondence and PNC Bank in Georgetown, among others.
This year's drive runs through April 5.

You can contact one of the supporting organizations above about donating books or see if your local community organization is involved in collecting books here.
On campus, books can be donated in bins located in Lauinger’s Midnight Mug, Georgetown Bookstore, Uncommon Grounds in the Leavey Center and the Intercultural Center’s More Uncommon Grounds (MUG). Saxbys will also accept donations.
