Ballston Quarter to Finally Open, Just in Time for the Holidays

After two years of waiting after the Ballston Common Mall was closed, new stores in the area are finally starting to open.

After two years of waiting after the Ballston Common Mall was closed, new stores in the area are finally starting to open. The Ballston Quarter, as it’s called, has been thoroughly renovated and revamped with a wide range of retail and service offerings, and at least some of those new stores are opening in time to be included in plans for holiday shopping.

Find out more today about the new opportunities available in the area and make plans to take advantage of the new space and enjoy everything it has to offer this holiday season. The patient waiting as the construction went on is finally starting to pay off.

Much Needed New Offerings

The area has not had much to offer in the way of shopping or entertainment during the two years of construction, especially as more closures have followed the original renovations planned. People living and working in the area will now have a much-needed and long-awaited burst of new life and activity with a wider range of options in the area.

The holidays are a natural time for stores to plan for opening, and a convenient time for shoppers as well. “November and December are prime shopping season for most people, and it’s when stores see most of their profits,” says Jason Hennessy, marketing consultant for Sultra. “It’s also a season that’s all about people coming together and spending time together.” Now people around Ballston Quarter will have many more opportunities to come together with friends in the new stores and entertainment venues opening up.

New Stores for Exploring

While Regal Cinemas and Macy’s have been open in at least some capacity throughout the construction period, they’re no longer alone. Open now are several women’s clothing and accessories boutiques, including Scout & Molly’s, Ninetwofive and Gossip. There’s also Potomac River Running, an athletic wear store that just moved to the new Ballston Quarter location. Retail stores Steadfast Supply and Francesca’s don’t yet have a date scheduled for their openings.

There’s an AT&T outlet and Cellaxs, a store specializing in mobile phone repair. Another interesting new offering is Yogibo, a furniture store that stocks award-winning bean bag chairs and other stuffed furniture options, perfect for a creative gift. Onelife Fitness is an exciting new state-of-the-art gym facility opening up. When it’s time to freshen up after your work out, there’s Drybar, a new blow dry salon, and the D.C. Lash Bar, a salon specializing in eyelashes above all else.

Most culinary options in Ballston Quarter will require waiting at least a little bit longer, as most planned dining opportunities don’t have opening dates as of yet. The Chick-fil-A and Punch Bowl Social will both open in December. At a later date several restaurants and the Quarter Market food court will open as well. Eventually Ballston Quarter will also feature Cookology, a culinary training school, and fun, social opportunities for kids and adults at Nook and 5 Wits.
