“There is a perception that we are a French restaurant. With this week, we’re trying to reinforce our Belgian identity,” Arizzi said.

On Tuesday, July 19, interested parties are welcomed to a dinner hosted by Belgian Ambassador Jan Matthysen. Joris Totté, first secretary press and public affairs for the embassy said that the ambassador is glad to help what they call a “good cause” as the proceeds of the dinner go to charity.

“The embassy supports this effort. This embassy has a longstanding relationship with the local Belgian chefs, and the embassy and the restaurants work together often to promote our culinary heritage. Ambassador Jan Matthyssen offers his residence as one of the venues during a week full of Belgian culinary festivities and by doing so supports a good cause since the proceeds of the event will go to charity,” Totté said.
