Local Non-Profit and Beekeeping Partner Gets Some New Bees

When a hive is weak, sometimes you need to take drastic action to tune it up.

Bread For the City on 7th St, NW (at P) has a brand new building with an associated green roof upon which they are growing veggies and fuits. They contacted me over the winter and we supplied them with two hives which were part of our April 17 installations. One of their hives was sorely lacking in progress so I donated a new package to supercharge that weak hive. I had an interested mentee that day, Eve Bratman, so she did the install. Check out the video.

In a subsequent visit, the bees are not only active, but the queen is laying and the hive is in full recovery.
