Businesses: Find Out How to Create a 'Mini Park' for PARK(ing) Day
Local businesses will turn parking spaces into "mini parks" for a day on Sept. 19, part of a worldwide event.

DC’s PARK(ing) Day will be Sept. 19th, 2014. PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks, sometimes called “parklets,” according to a news release from Georgetown BID.
The Georgetown BID will help local businesses interested in installing a temporary park near their location by helping them obtain the required permits from the DC Department of Transportation. The temporary parklets must be located in a metered parking space where there are no rush-hour restrictions. They must also be open to the public and free of commercial activity.
The BID will also grant a $500 stipend to up to five innovative parklet designs. To learn more about parklets and how they can positively impact your business, click here. For more information, contact Will Handsfield and Joshua Hermias no later than Wednesday, Aug. 20.
