Watch a Time Lapse Video 'The Beach' at National Building Museum
The National Building Museum exhibition, "The Beach," is now open. Watch a time-lapse video below about the project.

Looking for some beachy fun but just can’t make it to the shore? Then head to “The Beach,” an exhibition now open at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., designed to give patrons a “beachy” experience.
At this beach, you won’t get a sunburn, or have to worry about sand in your swimsuit or stings from a jellyfish.
The museum has created an “ocean” with nearly 1 million clear plastic balls — sort of a giant ball pit with beach chairs surrounding it on the “shore.” Museum-goers are encouraged to dive into the “water” at “The Beach.”

Visitors are encouraged to hang out with a good book in the beach chairs that line the “shoreline,” play paddleball or grab a refreshing drink at the snack bar. (Here’s a look at the menu.)
The museum is located at 401 F St. NW in DC.
