Construction Causes Metrorail Schedule Changes this Weekend
Multiple lines will be affected during the rebuilding Nov. 14 to 16.

Metrorail riders may experience schedule changes for this weekend.
Due to the rail system’s original construction in the early 1970s, the $5.5 billion project will provide many improvements. Upgrades are being made to the rails, platforms, lighting, signals, communication systems, and more.
From 10 p.m. Friday to midnight Sunday the following schedule will be in place:

Red:
- Between Shady Grove and Glenmont: trains operate every 16 minutes
- Between Grosvenor and NoMa-Gallaudet: trains operate every eight to 10 minutes 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Work being done: Rail tie renewal between Grosvenor and Twinbrook; lighting and fence upgrades between Rhode Island Avenue and NoMa-Gallaudet

Orange:
- Regular schedule except on Saturday: Trains will operate every 20 minutes at Minnesota Avenue, Deanwood, Cheverly, landover, and New Carrollton
- Trains will operate on the regular schedule Sunday
Work being done: Platform rehabilitation and emergency call box installation between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly
Yellow:
- Regular schedule
Green:
- Buses replace trains at Greenbelt Station Saturday and Sunday
- Regular schedule between Branch Avenue and College Park
- Greenbelt Station closed
- Free shuttle buses between College Park and Greenbelt replace trains
Work being done: New test track construction between College Park and Green Belt
Blue:
- Regular schedule except on Saturday: Trains will operate every 20 minutes at Franconia-Springfield and trains will operate every 12 minutes between Van Dorn Street and Largo Town Center 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Trains will operate on the regular schedule Sunday
Work being done: Rail, tie, and insulator renewal between Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Street
Silver:
- Regular schedule
