'Cowspiracy' Documentary on Environment Coming to DC

Environmental groups aren't doing enough to stop factory farming, filmmakers say; tickets to Sept. 23 DC screening on sale next week.

Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, a documentary about factory farming, its impact on the environment and how environmental groups are ignoring it, will be shown in DC on Sept. 23 at Landmark Theaters E Street Cinema, in a screening sponsored by PETA.

Here’s more about the movie from its makers:

“The Sustainability Secret is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following an intrepid filmmaker as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it. As eye-opening as Blackfish and as inspiring as An Inconvenient Truth, this shocking yet humorous documentary reveals the absolutely devastating environmental impact large-scale factory farming has on our planet.”

Environmental groups including EcoWatch, have underscored factory farming in the past.

Cattle ranchers and others in the livestock industry may be circling the wagons on the issue. “...it’s up to us to share the factual information about beef production and the environment. I encourage everyone to visit reference sites like FactsAboutBeef.com or check out our Earth Day page for resources on this topic,” says Amanda Radke in last month’s issue of Beef Magazine.
